Le candidature per i Game Awards 2024 sono arrivate: quest’anno la lista è guidata da Astro Bot, esclusiva PlayStation, e Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, entrambi con sette candidature, compreso Gioco dell’Anno. Balatro, un nostro favorito, concorre per cinque premi, e con piacere segnalo che, dopo aver trionfato ai Game Awards 2023, Baldur’s Gate 3 è tornato.
L’epico RPG di Larian quest’anno è candidato a un solo premio, il che probabilmente è un sollievo per gli altri contendenti. Baldur’s Gate 3 si contende il premio per il Miglior Supporto alla Community, insieme a Final Fantasy 14, Fortnite, Helldivers 2 e No Man’s Sky. Credo sia uno dei favoriti nella categoria: il supporto post-lancio di Larian è stato straordinario, e, ancora più impressionante, non ricordo alcun passo falso in stile Helldivers 2.
La categoria principale, come sempre, è Gioco dell’Anno. Oltre ad Astro Bot e Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, i candidati del 2024 includono Balatro, Black Myth: Wukong, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree e Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Balatro, indie di successo e uno dei giochi più avvincenti dell’anno, è anche candidato per Miglior Direzione del Gioco, Miglior Gioco Indipendente, Miglior Gioco Indie di Esordio e Miglior Gioco Mobile.
I vincitori dei Game Awards sono scelti tramite un “voto misto”, per il 90% da una “giuria” e per il 10% dal voto dei fan. “Dato che alcuni giochi sono esclusivi di una piattaforma, un voto pubblico pone i giochi single-platform in uno svantaggio intrinseco rispetto ai titoli multi-piattaforma,” spiega la sezione FAQ sulle procedure dei premi. “Inoltre, è importante che i vincitori non possano essere manipolati in alcun modo. Riteniamo che un voto misto sia il modo più credibile e autentico per selezionare i vincitori.”
