Le Nomination dei New York Game Awards 2026: “Ghost of Yōtei” si Distingue e l’Innovazione “Excelsior Award”

Secondo quanto riportato da GamesIndustry.biz, sono state rivelate le nomination per i New York Game Awards 2026, e il titolo “Ghost of Yōtei” si è affermato come protagonista, ottenendo ben quattro candidature. Il videogioco sviluppato da Sucker Punch Productions è in lizza per il premio “Miglior Gioco dell’Anno”, “Miglior Scrittura” e “Miglior Colonna Sonora”. L’attrice Erika Ishii ha inoltre ricevuto una nomination nella categoria “Miglior Interpretazione” per il suo ruolo di Atsu.

I Principali Contendenti e le Nuove Categorie

Diversi altri titoli si sono distinti con più nomination. “Clair Obscur” di Sandfall Interactive, “Despelote” di Julián Cordero e Sebastian Valbuena, e “Hades 2” di Supergiant Games hanno ricevuto ciascuno tre candidature, inclusa quella per “Gioco dell’Anno”. Anche “Blue Prince” di Dogubomb e “Hollow Knight: Silksong” di Team Cherry hanno ottenuto due nomination, tra cui “Miglior Gioco Indie dell’Anno”.

Nintendo si conferma l’editore più nominato con un totale di cinque candidature distribuite in quattro categorie, grazie a titoli come “Mario Kart World”, “Donkey Kong Bananza”, “Pokémon Legends: Z-A”, “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond” e “Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Star-Crossed World”.

Un’importante novità di questa quindicesima edizione è l’introduzione della categoria “Best New York Game”, un riconoscimento dedicato ai giochi sviluppati da studi con sede nella Grande Mela. Harold Goldberg, fondatore e presidente del New York Videogame Critics Circle, ha sottolineato l’importanza di questa nuova categoria, denominata “Excelsior Award”. “Quest’anno abbiamo avuto così tanti giochi straordinari che abbiamo ritenuto necessario introdurre il nuovo Excelsior Award per dare ulteriore risalto ai giochi provenienti da New York”, ha dichiarato Goldberg, aggiungendo che “i premi di quest’anno mettono in evidenza 66 dei migliori giochi realizzati da studi di sviluppo e singoli individui in tutto il mondo”.

La cerimonia di premiazione dei New York Game Awards 2026 si terrà il 18 gennaio 2026 presso l’SVA Theatre di Manhattan.
